Escape from it all with a week of entertainment and drama

Bray One Act Drama Festival director Peter Harrison, promises an escape from reality, for a week at least, at the launch of this year’s One Act Drama Festival in Killruddery. “Reality for many these days, is very hard, but these difficult times can be tempered with escapism. I welcome you all to a week of drama, relax and be entertained”. The varied programme for this year’s festival offering a mix of tragedy, drama and comedy, looks the opportunity to do just that. Participating groups, patrons, members of the committee and benefitting charities all attended the successful launch in the beautiful Killruddery House. The festival sees the return of some local favourites in Square One Theatre Group and Bray Arts, and welcomes Maeve Millar’s group Bray School of Speech and Drama taking part for the first time. 14 groups from all over Leinster, will take part in the competition which runs in the Mermaid Arts Centre Bray, from Tuesday 25th Jan to Saturday 29th January. Adjudicator, new to the Festival, Mr Christopher Fitz-Simon, has the difficult job of selecting the winners for the numerous awards. Two local charities who will benefit from the festival will be The Wicklow Hospice and Debra Ireland. To book your tickets, call the Mermaid Box Office at (01) 2724030 or www.mermaidartscentre.ie.
